Help me get back in the game

So I decided to build a PC after a long time of not really caring too much about my computer. (I've been at college and thus have only used my computer for Facebook and writing papers at 2 AM.) For my build I purchased an HIS H487FN1GP Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card (I just copied and pasted that from newegg because I have no clue the syntax to say that in english.)

My real question is how good is that card? I don't know what the graphics card market is like anymore so I went on a limb with a magazine article including the card. Along side a Phenom II X4 3GHz CPU and 4 GB DDR3 1333 RAM, what is my new card capable of. If anyone has a similar build maybe some FPS in some big games and what settings.

You can look up your card on the updated graphics chart THG has recently posted on the homepage.

It should help you better understand where your card falls in the card line up...
