Disk read error

Hello,

I have reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate onto my laptop to try and resolve a disk read error issue upon boot.

This has not resolved the issue

If i take the HDD out and connect up to my PC I can access the drive and as soon as i run a disk checker it starts running and then stops. After this the drive locks up and says access denied

any ideas?

Your disk is most likely failing.

Replace the disk. Do not try to boot from it again, every write operation reduces your chance of recovering data. Get your data back from your backups.

If you don't have backups, grab a free-to-scan utility (Clonezilla, EASEUS, and the ilk) and see how much data can be recovered.
