Changing default search locations for drivers in win xp

Hello!

I want to know how to change default search locations for hardware drivers in win xp pro. in other words i want windows to search for hardware drivers on my usb flash drive instead of CD Rom or system32 folder. how can i do this.

any help will be appreciated.

    Just click off search removable devices when it looks for the drivers. 99% of the time you have to point it to the right file manually anyway. I would not mess with the default driver search.

    If you really want to change the default, the registry keys for this is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePath
