Help my computer monitor screen is sideways

A friend just called and said her monitor rotated 90 degrees

Is there a trouble-shooting procedure to use in figuring out where the trouble might be?

Use the keyboard. It is either:
shift + up arrow, or
cntrl + up arrow.

to upright the display.

i tried and it didn't help me at all!! i'm on a school computer i really need help
