I am trying to make my hp laptop(hp pavilion entrainment pc/ dv5) work with an hplp3065 30 inch monitor.
The resolution on my laptop only goes up to 1280x800, the natural resolution
on my monitor is 2560x1600. I found an article about an external hard drive that
may work, but it is no longer even made. I am so lost and becoming so frustrated.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, any advice is very welcome!

I found a ViDock2 that should work.

does your laptop have an HDMI output?

if it does then you can output the video to the monitor through HDMI.

correct me if im wrong, but 2560x1600 actually requires 2 dvi connections to work properly?

^ 2560x1600 requires either DVI-D output(more pins than DVI-I), a HDMI 1.3a or above output, or a DP output.

I found out that I also need windows 7 to make this work.

Certainly works for me on Windows XP with no trouble.

Also the configuration will work if your video card has 2 dvi-i connections. You can combine these with a sub-d connector to get 2650 * 1600.

No it requires a dual link dvi connection, the difference between dvi-d and I is the D stands for digital only while the I means it has intergrated support for digital and analog connections.

You get dual link dvi-d and I connections.

What I was told by the Vidock2 seller was that windows vista will not let me combine the use of an Intel and an ATI card. My comp. has InterCore2, and the Video card has an ATI card, so I think I will need windows 7 to do this. Let me know if I am wrong, I would prefer to stay with Vista.

Thank you
