About a month ago I upgraded my 4 year old 17" lcd monitor to a 20". Since then 3 times when the computer is turned on it shows the wrong resolutions for the new monitor it shows the old. Restarting the computer fixes it. Yesterday it occurred right after starting the computer back up after a windows update which I thought was the cause but today it did it again with no updates.
The computer is running vista ultimate and the graphics card is the Nvidia 9800GT with current drivers. The monitor is the ASUS VH202T. Also have an xbox 360 hooked up to the monitor not showing the same problem. Graphics card is new too had about 4 to 5 months. Anyway to fix this?

Are you saving the settings once you change the resolution? You might also be choosing a resolution that the new monitor doesn't support.

Saving the resolution when changed. Also when it resets it shows the resolutions supported by the old monitor not the new. The old monitor was 4:3 and the new one is 16:9. The max resolution supported by new monitor is 1600X900 but when it resets it doesn't show that resolution in the nvidia control panel. It does after restarting the computer.

Do you still have the old driver installed for the old monitor? Check in device manager
