Hi all!

Im on my final steps on biulding a new gaming rig

I've been reading about the heat issues with this card that depends in the ventilation of the case

I was wondering if anyone know if the powercolor 4870 1gb version goes ok with a antec 300 case?

i know the card is big and it would bother the hdd drives, but im geting one hard drive and one gpu, so maybe no problem with that..

what about the case air flow for the card? the case comes with a back fan and a top fan.. maybe should i add one or two front fans or maybe a gpu fan like this one:

what do u think?

thx!

You don't want the little VGA cooler, they aren't very effective and more a desperation move when you have a poorly ventilated case.

Antec 300 has space for two 120mm fans in the front. They can be LED fans if you like, and will look nice while running. Doing that will make your case as well cooled as any air-cooled case out there.

ok ill search for similar fans and then post them

the front fans would throw air into the case right?

thx!

Adding two front fans will not hurt, just amke sure they are fairly quiet;)
Can you link to the card you have in mind? Powercolor use several different coolers.

this is the link:

theres also a asus and gigabyte version:

ASUS: http://www.appinformatica.com/tarj [...] b-asus.php

GIGABYTE: http://www.appinformatica.com/tarj [...] -pci-e.php

the price order at the moment is Asus < PowerColor < gigabyte (the powercolor looks better to me)

I agree, but check the warranties as well, as that is an important factor.

The fan looks fine to me. 22.5 decibels is not much.
