How to get off stand by mode

I have xp window imposter telling me to buy their anti virus. When i when to set restore my notebook has started to go to stand by mode.
Help me pl to get off that.

You very well could already be infected. See if you can startup in Safe Mode to restore, run AV scans, etc. Check your power scheme and set standby to Never. If you don't have a 3rd part firewall installed, get one. Don't rely on Windows. Protect your computer further by installing a Hosts Manager, which gives extra protection against malicious web sites. "Hostsman" is a good one.

If you infections are detected & removed in safe mode, and you can startup in normal mode, rerun the scans, as more may be detected.
