Problem with 2nd HDD

I recently built a computer and i am trying to setup a 2nd harddrive for storage. I have an SSD for my boot operations. However, it is out of room and i can't seem to get my hdd to be able to save anything to it without first saving it to the ssd and then moving it over.

Can some one tell me what i am doing wrong or how to fix it?

It would help if you told us what components you are using such as mother board and which hard drive you are trying to add. Sata, Pata?
