Alright, so, my friend wants a new graphics card on the cheap. He has an HP Pavilion a1410n, so it only has a single core socket 939 processor. I couldn't figure out the PSU, but I'm assuming that it's around 300~400W w/ 16A on the 12V rail.

Right now he's using the integrated graphics on his motherboard (nVidia GeForce 6150 LE), so pretty much anything, bottle necked or not, would be an upgrade.

His budget is $100, which could get him a really nice card, but wouldn't do as much as if he has a better processor.

Anyways, do you think you guys could help me?

Thanks!
~Isaac

Save a little dosh, the HD4650 is more than fast enough for a single core CPU of any generation or socket type.

Well, you could get a lot for 100, as you said. No real point though.

Something like the following would be a good choice:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102820
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130424

The 9600Gt is more powerful, the 4670 is cheeper and does not require additional power from the PSU.

Now, I had a 939 that was pcie.. If this is not, something like this instead:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102730

Though keep in mind AGP is VERY overpriced.

His motherboard does have a PCIEx16 thankfully :)

I think he'll like the 4670. I'll let you know what he thinks.

Thanks again!
