So even though I've built quite a few systems, I've never bothered with a sound card. However, when I install windows 7 here in a few weeks I want to have one in my case for the install. I have no idea where to start other than it must be PCI Express due to case space and I don't want it to use a power connector like the Asus DX.

Specs:

CPU: I7 920 @ 3.4
MB: Asus P6T Deluxe
Ram: 6 GB
Video Card: ATI HD 4870x2
PSU: 850W

I'll be using the Astro A40 headset.

Budget is up to $200 if needed, but would love to keep it around $100. Primary use for it will be gaming.

Thanks

Is there something the onboard sound is not doing for you? For most users, onboard is plenty.

It's up to you, but I'd save the money for a future upgrade.
