Current System

Athlon 64 3500 @ 2.7ghz
1gb DDR400
ECS Nforce4 A939
EVGA Geforce 6800 256mb PCIe 12pp5vs @ 410/900

Changing these parts

another 1gb Kit of DDR to make it 2gb
geforce 7900GTO (got a really good deal)

Looking for CSS, COD2, and ME2TW preformance

I know a newer card would have been a better choice for upgrade, but nothing I play came out needing DX10 preformance or features. I also play alot of quake3 based games, COD1, MOHAA, STV:EF, and ST:EF2

Damn, had to check this wasn't a necro reading this lol.

For the likes of CS:S and that era of games I think the 2.7ghz single core would be best but alot of people liked the Opty's due to them usually being clocked lower than normal for less power consumption, heat and stability in servers.

If you are happy overclocking it and you get a damn good deal it may be worth it although with a system like that you are beating a dead horse.

Hell, I just dusted off my old 4400, 2GB Dual x1900xt system for my parents.

To add Ive also considered looking for an Opty 165 for this system, but not sure if its worth it to pay the average of 60 bucks for one

Opteron 165, 1.8ghz Dual Core CPU, the opty's tend to go cheaper than the Athlon64 X2's for 939 by over a hundred dollars

Reply to candle_86

and will I finally be able to play COD2 in DX9 instead of DX7 mode in MP?

Reply to candle_86

yes sir !!!!!

well in all honesty I see nothing wrong with this old girl, newer games don't interst me, more bugs and a the stories get worse by the year and gameplay just sucks. So newer won't be a big deal unless something amazing happens and they go back to story over grahpics
