1x 4870 2gb and 1x 4870 2gb or 1 gb in crossfire

If running a 2 gb video card and want to add a video card for crossfire setup, do I need 2 or 1 gb version since system only recognizes memory on one card?

well, i would get another 2GB card then, though that amount of memory is useless unless you have a 30" monitor (or are playing GTA IV)

I have a 30" monitor but was curious why it only makes a difference on big screens. I also thought that since GTA IV uses it , wont new games also?

By saying 30" monitor, he is referring to the common native resolution on 30" monitors, which is 2560x1600, which is roughly 2-3 times the pixel count of much smaller monitors, thus requiring a lot more video ram at comparable frame rates.

GTAIV is a poorly optimized console port that consumes system resources with a ridiculous footprint. Thus, even top end hardware configurations have a tough time running it with all the eye candy (AA/AF) turned on at high resolutions. It is also VERY CPU dependent, so it requires a lot more than just a good video card to enjoy.

It is the new crysis. Get ready for a barrage of "But will it play GTAIV" comments to come in the near future.
