How do i transfere data from my laptop hard drive to a pc when laptop screen won

my sony vaio ar51j has stopped displaying on screen i used to get three beeps an i reseated the ram but still no HUD i even attached a external onitor and nothing and want to take all important info off laptop to put my pc hard drive and have it there and was advise there was a lead from hdd to usb to do that but no idea then name of it and also can i use my laptop hdd as a pc hdd?

this is bugging me as i have very important memories of lot family members and my son (whom passed away) that i want what are my options
