I have a 120mm Tricool (blue). I bought a 4-fan controller, and it works alright with my other fans, but the Tricool refuses to accept its control. The annoying little 3-speed knob still works, and the RPM shows up on my controller's front panel, so there isn't a connection issue there.
I'm confused and just want the controller to adjust the fan. Any suggestions?
If it keeps running at full speed:
- make sure there is no other power source, e.g. a molex cable that's still hooked up
- try a different port on the fan controller, it may be faulty
If it wont start:
- make sure the '3 speed knob' is set to the highest setting, otherwise the combined resistance will be too high and it wont get enough voltage to start if the fan controller is turned down
- set the fan controller to full speed and wait a few seconds

This is the black 'stock" one that comes in all Antec cases with the 3 position switch. It only has two wires going to the Molex (12v and G) and therefore there is no 3rd wire feeding back fan rpm.
This one is clear plastic has 3 wires going to the 3 pin power connector and this one does indicate rpm and is controllable.
Great fan....impressively quiet at full speed but for some reason, MoBo fan control doesn't drop it more than a few rpm as load drops. .....fan profile says like 1700 rpm at full load, then drops to 1500 at say 50% load and then back up to 1700 at < 10% load.
Waiting for Enermax TS to respond.
