Overclock AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz

Hey, i have no knowledge of overclocking in terms of how to do it and what it is. Can you please tell me what it is, and mainly should i overclock my processeor and if i do in what ways would it benefit me and also how to overclock it if it is neccesary.

As i recall, those AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU's do not overclock well at all, might be able to get 10-15% OC if lucky and for gaming that would basically yield a 1-3% FPS increase as those CPU's are a couple generations back. Also, there is no "kill switch" for those CPU's as far as heat is concerned so if it gets too hot, it will straight melt your Sh!%
