The e8400 hundred are fast and scored like 1900 hundred at the CPU benchmark..But when I can overclock my little 70 bucked underdog AMD 250 and score 1887 something in processing ratings that tells me alot about the AMDS true to dollar per dollar contender..For 167 hell I would go for the PhenomII 945 like dirst mountain tells you and fly away from the E8400 hundred like there was no tommorow..hahahahahaa Dollar for dollar is the battle my friend and in this economy that is what wins...
romeo asked for performance, not performance per dollar or economy or anything. And if it has nothing to do with multithreading beyond 2 cores (probably 98% of all applications and games), then it is E8400 hands down.

While true, anyone asking that question is probably better off knowing what price/performance actually means.

The athlon 2 250 is a much cheaper cpu than an e8400? How the hell don't you know that?
i only knowing that microcenter and compusa sale it cheaper than athlons, also some local retailer sale it cheaper since it's an year old product and athlon 2 x2 250 is new product as these retailler do not wish to lower the price despite athlon's performance much less than e8400.
i dont know about etailer like amazon and newegg, but as i look up on their e8400 i can tell they can control the price as e8400 is the top sell processor.(go look at it, it's the top rate right now) making it expansive will bring huge profit to these etailler as less popular product like q8200 sale as low as 109 because of low profile. so basically these info aint correct
