1gb ddr2 pc 6400 or 2gb ddr2 pc5300

so i have a netbook with stock ddr2 1gb of ram which is obviously running in single channel mode. I happen to have 2 gb of ddr2 ram pc5300 or 5400 that i pulled out of my macbook pro. I don't know which would theoretically be better. i loose some speed but should gain a gb of ram and duel channel mode.

So what say you?

i might just get some benchmarks and try both this weekend, and recomended benchmarks.....

  1. If memory utilization never exceeds 1GB, then leave it as is. Benchmarks won't help, Task Manager will.
  2. Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum

Like GhislainG said, if you need more that 1GB install the 2GB 5300, but if with 1GB is enough for you don't change anything. Also, the difference in performance between the 5300 RAM and 6400 RAM isn't big.
