Is anyone running an AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU on a MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard? I've checked on the MSI website and found that the AMD 955 AM3 CPU will run on the K9A2 AM2+ as long as one has updated the bios to 1.80 which I have done already. I looked at the specs and didn't see anything different between the 955 and the 965 other than the 3.2 vs 3.4 GHz.

Just want to make sure they're compatible before spending the 2 1/2 bills on one.

Thank you for any information.

Check power requirements. The 965 is a 140W part vs 125 for the 955, IIRC.
