Im going to start messing with my memory settings. First things first, where can i get memtest 64bit and am i able to boot from a flash drive?

My ram is gkills ripjaw ddr3 (2 x 4GB dimms) 1066.

cpu z says they run at 533mhz, sounds right to me

stock timings are 7 7 7 18 1t @ 1.5v

not sure how i should go about this. im thinking of running them at 1333 with the same timings and seeing where that gets me. How far can i push the voltage on these? if they get hot to the touch, is this bad? I have decent air flow in the case (2 side fans but nothing dirrectly on the ram dimms)

Thanks for any suggestions guys.

edit:

If it's hot to the touch at stock volts and speed you probably don't want to overclock them, at least not an overclock the requires more voltage.

What motherboard and chip are you running?

sorry, i should have listed my full specs. Ill edit the main post!

and btw, stock settings on ram does not leave them hot AT ALL. I did fail blend test today after about 4 hours, changed my memory to 8 8 8 24 with 1.5volts and ive been stable in blend for almost 6 hours. Mem is rated at 7 7 7 18 but maybe this is why asus put it to 8 8 8 24 when i first booted

For better no need compare stable ram with software memaxx2 : www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/MaxxMEM2.shtml
Just 3minutes You can compare it by self, cpu still under oc x data tranfer rates of ram in your system with cl7 , cl8 and cl9 . Take the best result of ram

It should be safe to go with a .5 over volt on them just make sure they stay cool.
