Alright, within a few weeks I plan on ordering parts off newegg to build a PC....I have already made a list of my build and comments/suggestions on how I could reduce price or boost performance etc. would be great. Also id like to know if there are any compatibility issues. This will be my first build so don't be afraid to dumb it down for me lol. BTW the $1500 is an estimate after combo deals etc. off newegg so id like the price to be in that range +/- $100 or so.

And a few other notes....
- I thought id go with the full tower cosmos for a more future-proof case/ easier for xfire or SLI
but i also had this mid-tower in mind...

As for overclocking...its not something I plan to do for about a year or more so i think i would go with a coolermaster V8 at that time as of whats available today.

And thats its...Thank You for any help and/or suggestions you can give =)

For 1,500$, I'd suggest getting an i7. Unless you're a die hard AMD fan, an i7 920 will be much more rewarding.

For a motherboard I recommend an Asus P6T or a P6T Deluxe V2.

Everything else is fine, and I'm leaning to the ASUS VH242H Black 23.6". Personally, I don't think the 30$ is worth the .4'' size increase, or the 3 ms less response time. Anything under 8 ms is perfect. (Mine's 5, and even on games like Crysis it doesn't lag behind when there's tons of smoke). Everything else is good, except I recommend getting 6 gbs of RAM b/c 1336 mobos have triple channel memory that can be put to good use.

Try that.

Good luck

Looks nice but as said i7 920+ p6t will give our better results and for the memory i might consider the 6gb xp3 kit

At first i was building around an intel 920...and i realize they are good for OC'ing but wouldnt a AMD 955 @3.2 Ghz be better w/o OC'ing? And thanks for the suggestion about the monitor, I wasnt sure at all if the 3 ms response time difference was that big a deal.

When it comes to 920 vs 955 its not just about clock speed the I7 performs better in most applications due to its design and hyperthreading
