In search of waterblocks

Google was my friend on this. -> 6970 blocks apparently work on 6950's: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/water-cooling/40369-water-block-6950-a.html

So, here are a couple I found quick as reference...

and

You could also consider universal blocks, but I'm assuming that since you couldn't find what you were looking for, you were wanting full cover blocks.

This should at least get you started...

Hello again,

Thank you very much for your help in trying to find these blocks. I'm looking at the picture they have on frozencpu's site and it looks like they are going to be too big to fit the cards because of the reference layout that the XFX 6950's follow. I wish they had posted a picture of the underside of the blocks as to get a better idea of if they might work.

But to me, I'm hesitant to order as they look very similar to the Koolance waterblocks that I ordered previously and did not fit. Not all waterblocks made for the 6970 fit these cards even though they say they do, as I found out the hard way.

I have the MSI Reference 6950 2GB and I used an EK 6970 Full Cover block. It is a long waterblock, but so is the card.

Which Koolance blocks did you order? I wonder if there is a discrepancy in some blocks because the 6950 1GB cards may not have exactly the same design as the 6970/6950 2GB cards.

Looking at my card, your card does seem to be a little shorter. Maybe that is the issue with the block. I had a small ridge in the block because there was a vertical line of VRMs or something to the right of the VRAM chips.

Might have to go universal blocks...performance would be very close...just make sure you also use RAMsinks. That's the problem with many of these vendors' optional layout cards...they don't match reference so many coolers won't fit...like full cover blocks.

Hello again,

Thank you all for your timely responses and recommendations. Boiler1990 has come the closest so far after talking with EK however they mentioned that my cards have a few chips that make him uncomfortable recommending the EK-FC6870 blocks. Do you know what these chips may be and how big of a deal that is going to make?
