Does it matter if 2 or more of the same connector type is on different curlsand what I use those connectors for? The only one that I'm certain of keeping to itself is the peripheral connector coupled floppy drive connector.

white four pin plugs are MOLEX and can be used for HDD's CDROM's, Fans and in some cases even to add power to mobo's.

SATA connectors can be used for HDD's & CDROM's - and can be identified by the "L" shaped connector.

Other than that the only other common Connector (Excluding mobo) ones are CPI-E for Video cards.

Whichever plug on whichever lead you use it makes no difference as they within the same type carry the same voltage

There are only a few ODM's building laptops for name brand companies that w actually recognize. Clevo, Compal, Quanta, Inventec are the big 4 in this business. Quanta for example makes many of the Dell Latitude, Lenovo (IBM), and Sony Vaio laptops. So why not cut out the middle man and have your laptop custom built by the ODM ? Do a Yahoo search on "who makes what laptop" to see who actually makes what.

Clevo for example has a US distributor called ProStar (www.pro-star.com) who custom builds all of our laptops. Prices start at $500 and run to over $2k....before customizing :)
