Sorry about the vague title. I hope it doesn't piss anyone off.

Heading straight to the point, I have a LAN network with 5 computers (2desktops, 2laptops and 1 netbook). I just changed my modem to a wifi/router modem, D-Link DSl-2460T so I can do away with the cables for the mobile pcs.

What is happening now is that whenever I plug the LAN cable to desktop A, it starts sending and receiving datas to god knows where, I really don't know. Considering i'm only having a 1mbps ADSL connection, it's sending a million bytes of datas in less than 10secs. I don't know how much that translates to.

In any case, I was wondering if you gurus here can provide some advice, information ... or anything that can help me with this?

I'd like to try not to format the machine....

Have you ran a scan for malware and spyware?
It's possible that a setting in the old modem was blocking the port that is now open on the new modem/router and allowing the traffic through.
Open up a command prompt and type netstat -b to see all the connections on the problem computer.
