Hey i have this really really old fan that i found in this 1998 (pentium 2) pc. I took it out because i wanted to add it as a side pannel fan to my current pc so my cpu can be cooler.

But when i plugged it in, and put the computer it it was SO LOUD. Sounded like a lawn mower.

I tried using speed fan to change the speed of the fan but nothing happened. So any ideas on how to change it?

Ive got 1 3pin fan, 1 4pin fan (that one is fine), 1 cpu fan, and i want to add that 92mm 3pin fan from the old pc.

Well, there is no way to change the speed if it is only 3-pin. My guess is that the fan is about as old as the computer, meaning, it probably doesn't do much anyways. It would be a good idea to just invest in a new fan (or two).

nah its good fan, its an NMB and its very very fast, and the wind it blows is tremendous! just too loud... also has 7 wings which is alot and very good!

Anyways a fan is a fan, nothing more and nothing less am i right? I mean the first biro pen is just as same as the biro pens now....

anyways if you do want to know which fan it is, it is a

NMB 3610kl-04w-b59
12 volt dc
0/43 A
DC brughless fan motor

Yeah thats a decent fan. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the speed with that fan. Also, it is just generally rated to be very loud. I would still recommend investing in a new fan or two, because that one only puts out about 48 cfm, which is okay for its size but not great. I suggest getting a 120mm if there is a spot on the case for one. One like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... would be a good choice.
