svideo problem

Hi all:
I have an emachine 5312 with svideo out, the problem is that while i
can see the desktop and running programs on my tv, hear the sound and
everything, when i play a motion picture such as a dvd movie the portion of
screen that should be the movie is a block of green, no pic whatsoever for
the motion, if i run a slideshow everything is fine. Any ideas? thx Wally
