In the BIOS you'll be idling, so temps should be relatively low. It depends on what kind of OC you've got(especially if you're overvolted), what cooling you're using, and what your ambients are. If you're in the 20s/30s C you should be fine, but if it boots in the high 30s and heads into the 40s you might be in trouble.

no 2 ppl get the same temps, every single chip is different, and it depends on many things, bus speed, voltage, cooling, mb and many others. . .

whats important is to keep your temp below the Tcase specified for each cpu, i think most of the i5's has a Tcase 72C so try to keep your temps below that and your fine

you can go to www.intel.com and check whats you specific cpu Tcase

Don't worry about bios temps. Worry about load temps. Us CPUID HW monitor.

Cpu's always run hotter in bios because the cpu cannot throttle in bios, it runs full speed.

No, cpu's don't throttle in bios so they run hotter.

In hot climates, even in the AC, it's quite common for modern cpu's to idle in the high 30's-low 40's, even at stock speeds. There is nothing troubling about it.

Yes, but they're running empty cycles. My CPU doesn't throttle ever, and it idles at 31C.

I've got my i5-2500K overclocked to 4.5GHz
Idle temps: 35-40C
My BIOS tells me 41-47 (but BIOS are known to exaggerate temps)
Having idle temps of anything lower than 45 is perfectly fine.
Under load my temps never get above 62C

Cooling: Hyper 212+
