I have a PC with a mother board in it thats bad. It isn't booping and isn't giving me post numbers. I think she be gone captain.
So, I have a GeForce 7950 GT SLI card plugged into it. I had 2 questions:
1 - That card is PCIe 1.0. All the new MBs are 2.0. I've read lots about people wanting to put a 2.0 card into a 1.0 slot - but I haven't seen anyone ask if a 1.0 card can go into a 2.0 slot. Will it work?
2 - That card is impossible to find. I was going to suggest getting another one and using 2 in the system for increased performance - but I can't see spending the $400 on ebay to get a 2nd. Would he be better off getting 1 new one versus another old one?
That card is so old that a single current card like a GTX260 (nVidia) or HD4870 (ATI) will blow it out of the water. You should have a quality 500W PSU to power it.
A 1.0 card will work just fine in a 2.0 slot.
