my computer beeps once on start and keeps on blicking as if its searching for the harddisk, whats the problem with that?

Maybe a bad connection on the hardisk or motherboard. The older sata cables can come loose easily. The newer ones lock in place.

The single short beep means your computer passed the POST. Generally, then you 'll get some kind of message about not being able to find the boot disk.

Your symptoms indicate that you have a problem with the storage subsystem.
