Hi guys! I am in some major need of help. I have been posting on Evga forums but I havn't gotten any help yet so.. Your turn!
Just got my second Evga 9800gtx+ today and SLI is enabled and its all working great at desktop. When I start a game I get display driver crashes and/or the game crashes. This doesn't happen in the game menu; it's when the map or what ever finishes loading.
My temps are low-last crash was 51c-and clocks are set to stock. and they are the exact same model 9800s.
EVGA 780i SLI mobo
750watt corsair PSU- Don't know too much about it- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139006 60amp +12v rail so.. thats good
4gigs of ram
uhh using the 190.38 drivers (the newest if the# is wrong) and I did driver sweeper in safemode.
tested in Trine and CoD4. Trine crashes, and CoD4 goes black screen for 5 seconds and says Selecting DVI output then the game plays again.
I put the new card in slot one--no SLI-- and played CoD4 for like 30 minutes 0 problems. so its not a faulty card.. I also reset my Cmos and put SLI back together with the TriSLI bridge but that didn't do anything.
-Just went into like crappy windows 95 theme and I played for about 4 minutes with no problems then it just made CoD4 crash so that definitely made a difference.
If anymore info is needed post please I am desperate! THank you!

Try one of the older drivers or if you are feeling brave, try one of the beta's from here.
I just tested 190.58 and it was working great for 5 minutes then locked up... and the Bios versions are different but the Release date is the same. Aprl 1, 2008
I don't even know what I did but I just played prototype for 30 minutes with 0 crashes. problem was only 30fps.. and i got 30-40 with a single 9800. wow im almost about to go consoles..
No, EVGA PRecision. I actualy had some good luck with 182.50 drivers. played for 10 mins all good then I had my first full lock; I had to hard reboot. Then I tried 178.24 and they are extremely laggy and still crash. So I think it is a driver issue.. but why are nearly all drivers causing crashes.. Keep posting please im going nuts. 15 hours working on this now I have to actually work tomarrow.
I have a feeling this is Vista 64bit problem. I am going to try windows 7 x86
Come on guys I really need some help here

I had a SLI 9800GTX+ SC from BFG with a 680I mobo and i had crash but not like your. It was covering all my screen with color rectangle but the real picture was still viewable.
Well my solution was on the EVGA forum ( had BFG card ... ) but still this worked. I flashed the card with a new Bios that cancelled the IDLE of the card. The newer PCB ( smaller one with only one 6 pin connector ) had trouble to recover from an idle. Was like if the single 6 pin wasnt enough and the card were jamming. Well this Bios flash worked well.
Cant remember where i found it but it can be something like this. Take a look at the EVGA forum. there are nice EVGA tech that read the posts.

Thanks for post. Right now im on Win7 and im still doing all the updates and bull. then Ill install CoD4 and give it a whirl. If that doesn't work it must be needing a flash. Where can i find the Bios for a 9800 gtx+ i searched around and didnt find anything
Just checked my EVGA post. one repy for someone and he said make sure card is pluged in... 0 help, at least he answered with something.

cards under load are about 63c-pretty damn low for 9800
Umm I just put my new card in slot one by its self for the 3rd time and played some CoD4 and i got a BSOD "System Halted contact manufacturer" or something similar
So... i guess newegg sold me a half broken card. sweet?
Just played with original graphics card with no crashes or lag or any other bull. My fan was buged out though and i was running 86c.. freaked me out lol

My happy thought projection must have been messed up by sunspots or something.
