Zork nemesis windows xp errors

Hello,
I have installed Zork Nemesis on my windows XP, and though it is running slow at some points, it worked fine... Until I reached some point in the game and it got stuck. I got a message that it isn't working any more and I should report this.
Has this got anything to do with the CD or the computer itself, or should I install it in a different way?
