It will get your gaming done, but as Ahslan said... we need a bit more info to determine whether or not this is the best build for you.

It's strange because when i go to the motherboard that i have selected, in the description it says:

Processor Support:
Phenom II X4 <--
Phenom X4
Phenom X3
Athlon X2
Athlon 64 FX
Athlon
Athlon 64
Sempron
Sempron X2
Phenom II X3
Phenom FX

And, in the comment section someone has posted: "I got this running my phenom 2 X4 940 OCed to 3.45ghz and 8GB of DDR2 800 RAM OCed to 960mhz"

So, i guess it works.

You're right. The AM3 in the description threw me off. It's usually listed as AM3/AM2+/AM2. Here's Newegg's description of the same board "GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail". Yes, the Phenom II X4 940 and DDR2 RAM will work with that motherboard. Sorry for the confusion. :(

Given that low resolution, you could save a few dollars and get the 512mb 4870 instead, unless you plan to replace your monitor at some point.
