Combining different ram

I'm trying to upgrade my system with minimal expense. I currently have an Intel E6300 proccessor, Abit AB9 Pro mother board, Corsair XMS2 2GB PC26400(1GB X2), and a Geforce 7600. I'm trying to keep the mother board and Ram. I have a Core 2 Extream CPU, and was thinking of updating the Graphics card and adding a some RAM. My question is if I would be ok to add a 2GB stick of ram to my system so I can keep my other ram.

it all depends on the ram you got, if its ddr2 ram, you really should run 2 or 4 identical chips. its ok to mix ram as long as they have the same specs, but i wouldn't advise it even tho they are the same specs, they are made differently. when i had my old IMB p4 i had like 4 diffrent kinds of SDram all diffrent makes and sizes, couple 128's a couple 512's and a 256
