Which RAM would be best for Q8400?

Last response: in Memory

Hi guys, been reading this forum in stealth mode for 2 years now.

I just can't figure out on the RAM for my system in my signature. I will be running my PC for playing modern games like MW2 and Batman AA, also to run PS2 and Gamcube emulators. I think my RAM is not enough or the bottleneck right now.

My Graphic card 5750 is on the way and I will be getting the CPU next month on my birthday. I have a 1080p 32" LCD to run the PC on, but not gonna necessarily use the full res as I know the limitations of my graphic card.

My new Mobo accepts both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM at one time. I have two sticks of 1 gb DDR2 667 on right now running on a micro ATX Gigabyte p45 mobo. My new mobo is the MSI x48c platinum. So this new mobo has 4 slots for DDR3 1600 RAM.

So how much would u guys prefer, which specific speed RAM. I don't wish to overkill, just need a smooth system.

So basically going from this:

Quote:
Pentium D 945 @3.4Ghz
2 GB DDR2 667
Built-in Graphics
Gigabyte P45-GZM

To:

Quote:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400
RAM??
XFX 5750 1GB
MSI X48C Platinum

So?

More about : ram q8400

Thanks for the reply guys.

I have Windows XP Home 32-bit right now, but I want to try Windows 7, hearing a lot about it.

I already bought Batman AA and MW2 for Windows. Which would be better? I don't know about differences between 32 and 64 bit. Will these games run on 64-bit? Will PCSX2 and Dolphin run on 64-bit?

why not???go for 64bit because 32bit versions does not support memory above 3gb..besides 64bit windows provide greater memory bandwidth and better memory performance
