My hard drive doesnt seem to boot

Last response: in Storage

I have just currently bought a new computer system, and tried to install a windows xp. When the windows xp was loading up, i received a blue screen of death with the error STOP 0x0000007B. After that once i restarted my computer, it seems i cannot boot anything, unless i unplug my hard drive.
My current specs are:

ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
I7-2600k
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALX 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"

What could be causing this problem?

Did this drive already have XP installed on it or did you do a clean install?

Even though new drives are formatted I would run the format utility that comes with XP.

And yes, do find out if you have a 4k sector or not.
