My hard drive doesnt seem to boot

I have just currently bought a new computer system, and tried to install a windows xp. When the windows xp was loading up, i received a blue screen of death with the error STOP 0x0000007B. After that once i restarted my computer, it seems i cannot boot anything, unless i unplug my hard drive.
My current specs are:
ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
I7-2600k
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALX 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
What could be causing this problem?

Did your drive come with a sticker saying something about "Advanced Format Drive"?
The new WD comes with the new 4k sector that won't be recognized by OS prior to Win Vista and 7. Go to WD site and look for info or resolving this. They have some utilities like WD Aligment that will align the disk to 512 bytes sector that will be compatible with XP.
