Motherboard boot problems/ no post code

I am running an asus p5n32-E motherboard, an Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX, and two gigs of ram.

When I turn on the system, I get a black screen- in other words, the power is on, but the motherboard does not boot, including no post code (no beep). I tried booting without the RAM in, and got a post code of one long, followed by two short beeps- which I understand is the post code for display adapter problem. Does anyone know what I need to do here? Am I providing enough information?

Is this a new board or setup? Try posting outside of the case with just the cpu/heatsink, one stick of ram, keyboard and video. Then touch the power switch cluster of pins with a screwdriver until it powers on. In the bios, set the boot order, ram voltage (if needed), save and exit. Try just one video card if you have a power supply less than 500 watts.
