Hi,
my system
P35 mobo MSI-7345
Intel Core 2 quad 6600 2.4 Hz
4GB DDR2
2X HD 3870 in Cross

Need to know if i can replace the Graphic cards with the 4870 series without having a bottleneck issue.
Or do i need to replace the mobo and cpu aswell?
Was thinking about 2 X 4870 .Need some advice,thanks

u can easily overclock that cpu, set it to at least 2.8 and your system will rock, it wont bottleneck the 4870. if u need a change, just get some cheap p45 mobo and rocket that 6600 to 3 GHz.

My P35 board takes my Q6600 up to 3.6GHz (Asus P5K-e) but I keep it at 3.2GHz to keep my legs from cooking!

My Q6600, even at stock, has never been a limiting factor in the games I play (mainly source based) with my 4870, if you go Crossfire an overclock will probably make a bigger difference though.

Ok,thanks, cpu is running at 3.0Ghz,but i think my mobo isn't pci 2.0 so considering p45 to take full advantage of the 4870's

I would say for the price of that 4870 you should get a GTS 250 1GB. It aint the best but it does the best.

Does the best only if you need the physics or folding. Potentially some of the other CUDA stuff.
