Installing Windows Xp on new build

installed:
Asus p8z68-v lx MB
western digital caviar blue wd2500aakx Harddrive
of course, RAM, DVD also.
OS - Windows Xp pro service pack 2


my system shows both the CD and the HD on the boot menu so I know it's showing up

everything checks out.
the OS install disk starts out fine, it starts the SEtup is loading files part fine,
but
when it get to 'Setup is starting Windows', I get an error message.

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I do not have a floppy drive.

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?

It may be a problem of failing to recognise a SATA hard drive. Look in BIOS for settings relating to AHCI and change that to IDE then save the changes and restart - that sometimes fixes it.
