Our very old desktop computer has a virus that infected the system files and even our antivirus warns us not to access it because it could damage something in the registry. Well I think thats what happened? I'm not a computer person but I'd just like some help because we can't afford to get another computer at the moment.

So as of now, the keyboard doesn't work at all. It is plugged in correctly but the keyboard doesn't work. lights are off, no keys will respond as I've had to use the on screen keyboard when using that desktop ( luckily I have a laptop). The mouse works fine however.

So I wanted to try a compete reformat and start from scratch. But even then, when I come upon the screen that asks for me to hit any key to continue, well that's where I'm stuck. Keyboard won't work so I can't even reboot from CD now. And the keyboard driver in now uninstalled I believe.

What can I do guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried booting into Safe Mode (f8) ?
