I presume your getting an overclocking failed message of some sort or not boot so remove your memory, clear your cmos, enter bios. Set at 1600Mhz. If it doesnt work then try manually setting your RAM timings/voltage/frequency in bios. Obviously that is if your bios lets you do this. Hope that helps :)

You're not going to until you read the memory instructions.

That 1600 speed is an OC, check the packaging. That said you need to pull your BIOS up, unless you are running a pre-built computer read the last lines on the first few screens when you power-up your computer from a FULL shutdown. From here check through the menus for the memory/over clocking page, then follow your RAM's instructions for the proper settings.

Don't be afraid of your BIOS, You must confirm your changes at the end, so making an accidental mistake is incredibly hard. Just keep your fingers off the 'y ' key.

...and there is VERY little real world gains in going from 1333 to 1600. Most of the gains show up in specific benchmarks and do not translate to measureable gains in real world apps or even games....

How bout telling us what motherboard and cpu you have??

You do not need to overclock to reach 1600, unless it's an AMD system.

If it's an Intel system, you simply need to go in bios and set ram to 1600. Also set the voltage and timings according to the sticker on the dimm.

1600 is the sweet spot for Sandy Bridge systems.

if AMD, you need to overclock the FSB
if Intel, should be pretty much automatic
both answers are found in the BIOS settings
if AMD solution and you can't overclock due to system instability, set it to 1333 and try to lower the latencies a bit, is next best thing and not much different in the end.
