Hi, I'm currently purchasing all the components for my second ever pc build (first was 1997) so im probably behind the times a bit, would wecome any suggestions concerning do's and dont's or concerns about a particular item ie(quality). Some parts i have already recieved and will list those first, its probably overkill because i have never overclocked before, but do intend to do so as i learn more about it in coming weeks, please feel free to comment with your thoughts, Heres what ive got and intend to get:
Thermaltake VA8003bws full tower
EVGA X58 3x SLI Classified MOBO
Antec TQ 850 True Power Quattro PSU
ok do you need the 975? cuz the 920 can clock easily to 975 speeds but if you set on the 975 rather get the 965,velociraptors are old tech any modern 7200rpm drive will match it,if you want speed get an ssd instead
Its all good! Since you're into high end, you might as well add another BID BAD RAD 5870
and go CrossFireX.
-- In addtion, if you gonna OC your procie it will perform much better if you cool it using the Scythe Mugen 2 cpu cooler and
for a more enjoyable gaming experience treat your ears with a nice multimedia speaker. If you're not into those 5.1 set ups, go for the 2.1 with a subwoofer capable delivering very deep rich bass with 50++ or higher watt RMS or at least a nice gaming headphone.

You are right about the 975/920 issue it is somewhat cost prohibitive for the gain, i probably shoud compromise on that. Also, i thought the raptor drives were fastest and probably will setup a RAID on them, if other drives are just as good, i could save money there too. What is SSD? in an HDD , and to Rock_n_Rolla's point, unfornately, ive already purchased a TRUE ultra extreme, which ive found out afterwards will only fit in my case with the side fan relocated to the outside of the side panel (no biggy). i probably will add another 5870 but right now its about getting a system up and running as im on the home pc downstairs to research and order parts. as far as multimedia, i already have from my last setup , the
Klipsh Pro Media 5.1 system as well as my 24 in Dell 2405FPW Flat Panel Monitor
so im already in fairly good shape minus the new build. anyways, thanks for your imputs, let me know more about HDD's i could save money there too if the speed is negligible...thanks in advance.
