I cannot install windows xp while installing dead screen error is occuring

i cannot install windows xp in my laptop while installing a blue screen is coming after coping of all .dll files and then system is restarting please tell me how to install windows xp and i came to know that if the bios is updated then the problem will be solved but i don't know how to install bios update please help me.

What's the brand/model of the laptop? Are you using the restore disk that came with it?
