is my motherboard ssd compatible, Can it run 2 x ssd in raid 1 stripe or will it bottleneck their potential?
My motherboard is an Asus P5W DH DELUXE

If you have sata2 interface it will not bottleneck SSD disk.

Yes, your motherboard has 6 SATA 3Gb/s connections and can use a SSD.
While two can be ran in RAID for higher performance, I would recommend staying with a single SSD.
One is plenty fast enough, no need to throw cash away.
