Maxtor hard drive

Hello,
anyone know why there is no pop window when i plug in my hard disk. i seem like the computer never detacted the hard drive exsistance and recently i accidently rebooted and partition my hard drive with i uses my mac. how can i retrive back my old files? need help urgently.

Try recuva software to try to recover your files. Although if the drive is not even detected by the system it's an issue you need to get past first. Have you tried the drive in another computer? Tried different cable or ports? If it's inside an enclosure you may need to open it and check the connections there.

You are not being clear. Did you run any sort of partition tool on this drive or another drive? If so you have to return the drive to where it was and there is a small chance you can get the data back.
