Overclocking RAM* Stock 1600 read as 1333 Want it to run at 1600
Hey guys I wanna make sure this is correct. I have 1600mhz mem but cpu says its 1333. So I go in bios change mem to 1600, set correct stock times, then enter in correct dram voltage (1.65) and it will be 1600? And doing it this way will prevent me from taking the mem clock above stock by increasing the fsb for overclocking? Good think im getting black edition right? Unlocked multi wont have to worry about the ram going above stock right?

Yes use the Multi only on the BE....Set the RAM like you stated and you got you some 1600 RAM running with an OCed CPU without all the problems associated with using the FSB to OC which can be a real headache sometimes...The voltage can be dropped in some instance to 1.6 like henydiah said but also like geekapproved said it may cost you your stability if your running tight timings

Thanks for the summary

Don't forget after you get stable with the RAM and CPU settings you can then start to OC the NB which will make the OC more efficient (faster)...Also, run prime95 -->4-8 hours to check the integrity of your OC....small fft'--> for CPU...blend-->for RAM...large fft's-->for complete system...AND watch your temps

No.....North Bridge is separate....although you can raise the HT up to 2600 MHz@1.2v in my case ....NB...if your running what I think your running...2800MHz@1.2v seems to be the sweet spot when just flat out using the Multi. OC method...Which MOBO are you using? Which CPU?
