I just need to know if I need to oc my 945 in order for the 5870 to run better?

For a 5870 a Phenom II 945 or even a Core 2 Quad 65nm/45nm will still be fine and not present a bottleneck. 3GHz is probably the best starting speed but wont present any noticable benefits unless you are in high res.

Now a 5870X2+ would need a OCed 945/C2Q.

You don't have to...
It is a high clocked quad and Games these days runs good on quads...

a reviewer on you tube stated that the 5870 really prefers over 3ghz cpu's; Is there any truth to that?

A reviewer on YouTube..........I'd say you're pretty safe.

Lol all these answers were so straight forward. (not being sarcastic it was just funny to see everyone say no so fast)

You can still OC the 945 pretty well with the base clock, just not as well as a 955BE. I think most 945s can hit 3.6GHz easily.

Serious?! The review was harsh then XD
it sed that the 945 was a disappointment with its oc ability and gave it a hiding lol

945 will OC as well as any 955's will, you only need to be a little more professional to do it ;)

[:mousemonkey:1]

But to the OP, it will not cause a bottleneck.

Lol, you are right, that did sound stupid. What I meant is that you need to know a little more about what to tweak etc.

Only one thing, you should edit the map to exclude AI or modify the AI and make Koreans friendly ;) Also, make them throw flowers at you while you walk into the sunset.
