I have a family, fairly new, the mother had her first baby and went on
maternity... while the other was still a baby she got pregnant again. Then
they said she would get more maternity leave, but the day after her second
baby was born she got told to go to work... didn't because she was looking
after the baby's and got fired?!?

I'm confused she should of been off work.

Yes, when my Cassandra Goth gave birth to daughter Bella she was told
she'd get three days maternity leave off, but the next day her ride
showed up. Since there were plenty of other people in the house to look
after the baby off she went, but still...What a cruel employer! Must be
Electronic Arts! ;-) ;-)

No - I think the message says three extra days HOLIDAY - not time off. Your
sim can opt to take the time off (phone work and arrange a day off) but is
expected to go back to work otherwise.

Best wishes

I was pretty embarrassed that I didn't figure it out myself (someone on here
explained it when I asked) but the carpool will arrive for new mothers, the
three days leave they get is added to their vacation leave. If you look
under the job panel, you'll see she has an extra three days vacation
accrued. You can take the carpool and go to work like normal, or you can
stay home at no penalty to your work performance/pay packet.

That doesn't answer the original poster's problem though. I have no idea why
her Sim lost her job for not going to work when in theory she should have
had three days vacation owing to her.

I don't know as I haven't used any vacation days yet, but maybe you have to
call for the day off each of those three days?

No, I know you can't call in for vacation because I tried to do that once
for a male sim who I just wanted to stay home to help teach the triplets how
to walk and talk. The only option on the phone under "work" was "call in
sick" and "quit job."

No, you don't. If your Sim skips work and has vacation days owing to
him/her, then you get a message to say that you've used one vacation day.
You don't need to call ahead.

Ahh ok. That's good to know. I don't know what happened in this situation
then?

Mmmm....I dunno. I could swear for other Sims the car never came, and
they just stayed home.

I've had several preggers people. The carpool comes after the babe is
born. Period. And you can't call in- other than sick, which gives you
the day off. But if you are delayed and miss the car pool, like Dana was
once, congratulating the twins Cochlea and Cornea on their grades, then
a vacation day is forced. Have not had the situation where a nanny was
needed- I always have one adult around.

Dana's seventh and last child was Septum, btw. You are not surprised.
She does have the bug that on her day off, she is getting her full pay.
Never had that happen before. Family has too much money now. May have to
demolish and redecorate the home to spend some of that. Septum is
another green-skinned blond, like Emerald, Cornea, and Pylori. No
redheads in the batch, or brunettes.

You should not have to report in as being sick for maternity leave - but
there have been instances where maternity leave was not 'issued' (for want
of a better word).

Variousimmers has a mod out now (TwoJeffs) that allows you to choose which
parent will receive the three days holiday to look after the baby.

My sim never had to call in when she had her first baby, but I am starting
to think she didn't get the three days off "issued" to her because she was
still on maternity leave from the first?!?!
