Hi
Please help with an ongoing issue I have..I have noticed my screen freezes at approx 60degrees celsius and freezes on the current screen displayed..there is no blue screen and the screen will stay frozen until I power off. When i power off I cannot turn it back on again for approx 15mins as it just shuts down immediately.I have cleaned the fan and applied thermal paste..Problem still persists.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Steve

Sounds like a defective on-board video controller. This is very common with these systems. So much so, that many systems (incl. the DV6) were part of a class action lawsuit/settlement (since expired). Your only option may be to replace the system as a whole, or the mobo (at a minimum).

Good luck!

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem that slimergan is having. Is there something specific that needs to be replaced to get the laptop back to working order before I sell it off?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks

Yes, you have to replace the motherboard (the defective video adapter is integrated into the motherboard itself).
