Please suggest a few components for me based on these needs

This will be my first build.

Here is what I am going to be using this build for in order of most important to least:
1. All the basic stuff like surfing the web, watching movies, etc. Probably not worth mentioning seeing as my little 400$ laptop does it all with ease.
2. Basic gaming. By basic gaming, I mean mainly Blizzard games (Blizzard is known for keeping weaker computers in mind while creating their games). Also I don't mind lowering settings in games.
3. Basic video editing.

I don't really need suggestions for things like (lol couldn't think of a way to say that that doesn't sound demanding) monitors, and keyboards and stuff. What I need suggestions for is the motherboard, the CPU, memory, GPU, HDD and PSU.

Some basic minimum requirements I've made are the following: I need at least 4 gigabytes of RAM, I would prefer for the CPU manufacturer to be AMD (cheaper) and I would really like one of the new Phenom 2 X3 CPUs but if it seems a little overkill (for my needs obviously) then please suggest otherwise, at least 750 gigs but preferably 1 tb, and seeing as the cpu would be phenom II, I would like the mobo to be built for the new AM3 socket type. I know that the AM2+ mobos support the new Phenom II CPUs but I would still rather have one that is build for the AM3 CPUs.

My budget is not-so-strictly 650 USD.

Comes to $541 before MIR, what resolution is the monitor you are working with? If you are above 1650x1050 i would suggest upgrading to the HD4850 GPU and swapping out the case PSU combo for the EA500 to support the 4850 for a while, but the 4670 should be able to handle almost any blizzard game fine except maybe wow.

And as his budget allows, why not the quad...It would be a better option...and just $75 more...And it would last longer than the X3(In terms of performance and requirements)

you could always get a Phenom X2 550 and unlock the additional two cores...youd be getting a $240 for $99....but this isnt guaranteed

Why would you even suggest that? He has the budget for the quad, and his uses need more than a dual core and there is no reason to get the x2 now when the x3 is $20 more and comes with far better combos that more than offset the price difference.

gkay i didnt initially suggest the quad because there is a significant price premium to it and his uses dont seem like they would benefit greatly from it. But skyturnred if you do decide to venture more into video editing or think you might then definitely get the quad core, it will do it alot better.

^that is true, i guess, since he really doesnt need to spend much money on the video card...im just so used to trying to save as much money as possible in order to splurge on the video card

@hunter315 Its true that maybe his current usage might not take full advantage of the Quad...but as the current and future apps are being more optimized to take advantage of additional cores, having a Quad would be benefiting and like I said would last longer in terms of performance as generally we tend to keep our machines for 2+ years...

So if you can get a quad, then go for it...

Yeah, but I also heard that the 720 CPU combined with the M4A78T-E, you can somehow unlock the 4th core. Wouldn't that be the same as getting the quad?

But I have heard only the Biostar and ASRock mobos are pretty successful in unlocking the cores...

I would get the tri-core and try to unlock the fourth core...if you dont get it, then oh well...you still have a tri-core
