AM2+ cpu in AM2 slot performance loss

We all know that you will lose some performance if you do this, but how much? I don't have the slightest clue about the inner workings of a CPU, so I really have no gauge on what would cause performance loss, or how much it would cause. Could somebody please give me something like a percentage here?

The HTT bus will be the cause. AM2 has a lower older version of HTT so the HTT clock will be lowered on that CPU to make it run.

Now the performance loss wont be too great since what HTT does is makes server and memory intensive apps run faster the faster the HTT is, but there will be a small performance loss in gaming and normal apps.

Depends on your usage, but in general it'll not make much difference. It wouldn't be worth buying a new motherboard just for the very small performance increase in most cases.
